How to Use This Estimator

  • Crochet uses ~30% more yarn than knitting for the same project — the craft selector accounts for this.
  • Heavier yarn = fewer yards per skein. A 100g skein of fingering is ~400 yards; a 100g skein of bulky is ~100 yards.
  • Always buy from the same dye lot. Estimate high and return unused skeins rather than running short mid-project.
  • Swatch first. Gauge differences can swing yardage by 10–20%. A 6×6" swatch takes ~15—30 yards.
